Every year, ‘The Men Tell All’ frustrates me to no end. If I ran things at ABC, I’d move the finale to Week 10, and lump TMTA and After the Final Rose into one special. That being said, it’s always an entertaining night.
I don’t know how Kalon managed to fit his foot in his mouth with those huge fake teeth, but he did. He tried to apologize for his actions in London, but it blew up in his face when Emily revealed that she saw a snarky post directed at her on Kalon’s twitter. At the beginning of the summer, I called him the “Courtney Robertson of Emily’s season.” However, while my heart softened for Courtney by the end of Ben’s ATFR special, I fully expected Kalon to be unable to redeem himself.
Had Ryan not started growing a beard and shaving it into funny shapes, I think he may have had a chance with Emily. Would he have made it to the final two? Probably not, but his look just added to the overall douche package. I also think he may have had a shot at being the Augusta Bachelor if he hadn’t plugged it to Michael on the show. That’s just Ryan though, he never knows how to keep his mouth shut. He even got Chris’ immature temper raging by interrupting him over and over again.
I feel like we’ve seen Sean’s departure so much that there’s no way it happened only last week, but of course, we had to see it again. I thought it was really sweet that both he and Chris had nothing but positive things to say about their Bachelorette experience though. We ended the night looking back on Emily’s relationships with Arie and Jef. Though we still don’t know if Emily will pick either one of them, I think she and Arie have much more chemistry and I think he’s much more prepared to be a dad. I think Jef underestimates how slow of a process it is to gain a child’s trust, and will end up having a weird, cool-uncle relationship with Ricki if Emily marries him.
In closing, I’d like to say how surprised I was to see that Tony will be on Bachelor Pad. If he couldn’t last three weeks without feeling that he needed to get back to his son, why would he accept an invitation to appear on another show? Chris also joined the veteran contestants, telling the audience that it was “an incredible experience.” I’m sure it was, as we see you hooking up with three different women in the teaser trailer. Kalon was a no-brainer for the show, but I would have traded Tony or Chris for Ryan. That would have been some good drama. Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to recapping and roasting Season 3 of Bachelor Pad after Arie gets Emily gives out the final rose next week.
